I am a retired professor of Education Technology. As head of the Department of Interactive Media and Educational Technologies at the University for Continuing Education Krems (UWK) (Austria), I researched how to apply technology in settings of Life Long Learning.

I had held positions as a professor at several universities in Austria and Germany (Klagenfurt, Münster, Innsbruck, Hagen) before I accepted the nomination to Krems. I published 25 books (10 monographs and 15 edited volumes) and over 200 articles.

Today, I remain interested in technology-enhanced learning (TEL), now focusing on workflows and tools for Open Science research (e.g., Obsidian, Hypothes.is, Zotero). These subjects are covered predominantly in my German weblog “Gedankensplitter”.

However, I have also developed a new interest in statistical data processing and data science. My focus is on investigating social inequality and the decline of democratic structures. I am learning to apply Bayesian statistics using R to these (for me) new research subjects. But in this area, I am still a learner, not an expert.
